The mission for the Library and Information Centre at Pittwater House is to ensure that all students build the skills necessary to access, evaluate and use information. We encourage all students to become responsible digital citizens and use ideas and information responsibly. May every student become informed problem solvers, lifelong readers and learners.
The Library is located on the top floor of our West Wing, a location which allows a great deal of natural light and its open plan design gives a feeling of space. The Library facility has been designed as a multipurpose space, allowing for simultaneous use by both our Junior School and College and Grammar classes.
The library provides materials and support for research and for reading. Our collection contains both fiction and non-fiction books, a huge array of picture books, ever popular graphic novels and current magazines.
The library subscribes to online encyclopaedias and subject specific databases that give students access to thousands of electronic, peer reviewed, full-text articles. We have electronic access to hundreds of worldwide newspapers allowing students to stay up to date with current affairs and worldwide news and events. We have an ever growing collection of e-Books and an online electronic referencing system.
There are desktop computers available for student use and students have access to a photocopier, colour printer and scanner.
