When can overseas students join?

We welcome Overseas Students into Years 7 to 11 on a 500 visa, subject to availability and eligibility.

Please note: We do not offer short-term enrolments or study tours.

What are the Overseas Student fees?

Our Overseas Student fees are in Australia Dollars (AUD) and are billed in advance per semester (twice a year).

It is a condition of enrolment for Overseas Students that fees are paid by the first day of the course of study.

What do the fees include?

Pittwater House tuition fees cover the entire educational program, including pastoral care, extension work and learning enhancements.

The student services fee covers most activities outside of the standard tuition fee, including excursions and camps

What do the fees exclude?

  • School books
  • Uniforms
  • The NSW government’s High School Certificate charge (Year 12)
  • The overseas student health cover (required as a condition of your Student Visa)
  • Homestays and/or residence inspection fees
  • Some high cost/low volume subject related costs which are advised in advance.

Optional extra-curricular activities that are charged in addition to our tuition fees. For example:

  • Private extension lessons (e.g. tennis, piano, singing, etc.)
  • Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award scheme
  • Bus transport to and from school
  • Extra copies of school reports or diaries.

How to apply

1.

Submit the Overseas Student application form. Include the student’s passport and supporting documentation.

Please ensure you review the Conditions of Enrolment and the Overseas Student application checklist in the application form before submitting all documentation.

Once a position is available and we have assessed your application, if required, we will issue a Provisional Letter of Offer so you can obtain a Student Visa.

This Provisional Letter of Offer includes an outline of the fees that are required to be paid, conditions of enrolment, an acceptance agreement and an Accommodation and Welfare Form.

3.

Upon receipt of the fees outlined on the acceptance agreement, Pittwater House will then lodge a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) electronically.

The CoE is a required document to apply for a Student Visa in Australia.

4.

Overseas students must advise the Overseas Students Advisor of their arrival details in Sydney at enrolments@tphs.nsw.edu.au.

English language requirements

To ensure a successful transition into the curriculum, students must meet the following AEAS (Australian Education Assessment Services) scores:

Year 11 85% (Advanced)

Applications below the minimum requirement will be waitlisted until the required standard is met as Pittwater House does not have a designated EALD class on-site.

We recommend preparing through one of our preferred English Colleges (see below).

Frequently asked questions

Who can be a guardian?

Anyone over 21 years and with a Guardian Visa (590 visa) can be a guardian. They must not be an agent or on a Student Visa (500 visa).

What age can students stay with a Homestay Parent?

Homestay is available for students 15 years and over, entering Years 9, 10 and 11 only.

What are the Homestay and Residence Inspection fees?

Fees associated with homestays or other residential arrangements for overseas students will be billed directly from Oz Homestay.

These fees, which can be viewed on the Oz Homestay website, are compulsory and must be paid to continue enrolment at Pittwater House.

Do you work with Education Agents?

Pittwater House works with education agents to enrol overseas students at the school however, as we do not engage the services of agents to represent the school, we do not enter into any formal agreements.

Do you have a Homework Club?

Yes. Homework Club is available for students from Years 7 – 10 three afternoons per week (3:30pm–5:00pm) during term time – offering a quiet, structured space to revise, complete assignments and build confidence.

What is considered satisfactory attendance?

Students are expected to attend at least 90% of their course program. If attendance falls below 80%, the School is required to notify the Department of Home Affairs via PRISMS.
Late arrivals and early departures are also recorded and included in attendance calculations. Any absence of more than five consecutive days without prior approval will be investigated. For absences due to illness, a doctor’s certificate from a recognised medical centre must be provided.
For absences due to unforeseen events, students should provide as much documentation as possible to justify their absence with legitimate reasons.

Can carers or guardians leave the country without the student?

Carers and guardians are not permitted to depart the country without the student in their care. In circumstances where international travel is required, carers and guardians must either ensure the student accompanies them or arrange for the student to reside with an approved Homestay family for the duration of their absence.

What happens if a student is at risk of not achieving satisfactory course progress?

To maintain satisfactory progress, students must achieve a pass mark of greater than 50% (grade C or higher).

If a student is at risk of not meeting this requirement, they are encouraged to speak with the Overseas Students Adviser, Year Co-ordinators, the Head of School, or the Deputy Principal. Where needed, the Diverse Learning Team will also provide support.

Senior students have free access to our Senior Study Centre from 3:30–6:30pm, Monday to Thursday. Each afternoon, two teachers from different faculties are on duty to assist students with questions and provide academic support. Weekly timetables of the support on offer are distributed to Year 11 and 12 parents and students.
