Pittwater House is entering a meaningful new chapter in its leadership story.
Following a national search, we are proud to announce the appointment of Dr Steven Middleton as the next Principal of Pittwater House, following 15 years of exceptional service and extraordinary growth under Dr Nancy Hillier, who will retire at the end of 2025.
Dr Middleton is currently Associate Principal at St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar School in Melbourne and brings with him almost 30 years of leadership experience across leading independent schools, including Knox Grammar and The King’s School.
Widely respected in the education sector, Dr Middleton was recently named among The Educator’s Hot List 2025, a national recognition celebrating Excellence in Education. This honour highlights his visionary approach to leadership, his dedication to student-centred learning, and his impact on shaping strong, connected school communities.
He is known for his deep understanding of educational excellence, strong relational leadership, and his alignment with the “Diamond Model” approach that defines his current school – an approach that resonates closely with Pittwater House’s Twin Schooling model.
Dr Middleton will officially commence his role in Term 1, 2026.
We thank Dr Hillier for her exceptional leadership and welcome Dr Middleton with great anticipation.
The future of Pittwater House is in strong, experienced hands, and we remain as committed as ever to inspiring excellence in every student, every day.
