We are pleased to announce that incoming Pittwater House Principal and CEO, Dr Steven Middleton, has been named to The Educator’s Hot List 2025 – recognising him as one of the 50 most influential educators in the country.
This national honour celebrates leaders who have driven positive change and educational impact across the K–12 sector. Dr Middleton was recognised for his long-standing commitment to academic excellence, evidence-informed leadership, and student wellbeing.
Currently Associate Principal at St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar in Melbourne, Dr Middleton brings nearly 30 years of experience in elite independent schools. Notably, the structure of his current school – blending single-gender education in a co-educational setting – is closely aligned with Pittwater House’s own distinctive model.
Dr Middleton has made several visits to the school ahead of his official start in 2026, meeting with students, staff and families. During a recent assembly, he spoke of schools as places of belonging, excellence and safety, quoting John F. Kennedy: “A rising tide lifts all boats.”
Chairman of the Board, Todd Alexis SC, described Dr Middleton as “the unanimous choice” to lead Pittwater House forward. His appointment comes at a time of strong momentum for the school, with Pittwater House recently ranked second in NAPLAN results among Northern Beaches secondary schools after Northern Beaches Secondary College Manly Selective.
As we approach our 65th annniversary, Dr Middleton brings a compelling vision for the years ahead – one that respects the legacy of our school, while embracing a future-focused mindset.
We look forward to welcoming him more fully into the community in the months ahead.
