General Excellence - August/September 2012
Science - UNSW National Science Competition
In Term 2 a number of Pittwater House students participated in The University of New South Wales National Science Competition.
Pittwater House had 70 participants from Years 6 to 10 who achieved outstanding results; 34 Participations, 27 Credits, 7 Distinctions and 2 High Distinctions. Distinctions were achieved by Ellie Bowyer, Yash Sogy, Maria Wang, Betina Ferreira, William Leck, Mitchel Howe and Lewis Beard. High Distinctions were achieved by Nicola Hook and Mitchell Scott.
Fund Raising - Heart Foundation
Congratulations to the Junior School students for their efforts raising money for The Heart Foundation, through their on-going support of Jump Rope for Heart. The students received a bronze plaque for raising over $25,000.00 over the 3 years.
Award - Community Languages School
Lucas Jennings (Year 6) has been selected to receive a 2012 Commended Award for Excellence in Student Achievement - Community Languages Schools for the study of Swedish. Lucas also attended the Minister's Awards Ceremony at the University of NSW. We are all extremely proud of Lucas' achievements and congratulate him for his efforts.
Cadetship - KPMG
Congratulations to Jason Korchinski (Year 12) on being awarded a Cadetship with KPMG, Sydney. The program involves working whilst studying part time at University for the first two years and gaining valuable experience in the work place. Only sixteen students were selected from over 500 applicants.
Debating - HICES Grand Final
During September, the HICES Debating Grand Final was held at the Grace Hotel, Sydney. Congratulations to Angus Leck (Year 11) for achieving 1st place across all regions and Nicholas Tucker for gaining 2nd place across all regions. Angus Leck was also invited to act as Chairperson for the debate in the Open Division.
This is the first year that Pittwater House has participated in HICES Debating which begins in Term 1 and ends in Term 3.
