Finlay Dennison awarded acclaimed Tuckwell Scholarship to Australian National University

Every year, 25 Tuckwell Scholarships are awarded to highly talented and motivated school leavers planning to study at ANU. This year, our very own Finlay Dennison is one of two Northern Beaches students to be awarded the scholarship for 2019 – considered the most transformational undergraduate scholarship program in Australia.

Dr Nancy Hillier, Principal of Pittwater House, says, “We are thrilled for Finlay and his family. As Head Boy of our School, and a young man who excels at so many things, he is an exemplary student and a fabulous school ambassador.” She adds, “He is a great fit for the Tuckwell Scholarship Program”.

Established by philanthropists Graham and Louise Tuckwell, the scholarship is aimed at young Australian leaders who are community-minded as well as academically gifted. Finlay, who is a crew member of Reach – an organisation that conducts youth-led workshops designed to build confidence and self-awareness – approaches any task with diligence, enthusiasm and respect.

The comprehensive three-staged selection process – which started with 682 applications – culminated in an Interview Weekend on 7-9 July in which the shortlisted candidates were interviewed by the Tuckwell Selection Panel, participated in tours of ANU and Canberra and spoke to current Tuckwell Scholars.

Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Finlay Dennison and his family.
