Grammar 12 soccer star Cameron Peupion joins English Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion
We are incredibly proud to congratulate Year 12 Boys’ Grammar student, Cameron Peupion, who has left us to fulfill his dreams of a professional soccer career in the UK, this week signing with English Premier League Club, Brighton & Hove Albion.
In a week where, in normal life, Cameron would have been sitting his trial HSC here at School alongside his friends, he’s now on the other side of the world learning some very different skills, as part of Brighton ELC’s under 18’s program.
He has joined Socceroos Mat Ryan and Aaron Mooy to become the third Australian playing at the Premier League club.
After joining Pittwater House in Year 7, Cameron has successfully combined his education at the School with his membership of Sydney FC’s Sky Blues Academy, which he joined after being spotted at fourteen years old playing for Manly United.
Cameron was playing for Australia at last year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil when he was invited to a trial at Brighton in January. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his move to England was delayed until last week.
We congratulate all of the Peupion family on Cameron’s well-earned success, including younger sister, Mirabelle, currently a Year 7 student in our Girls’ College.
